Denim Shirt, Quay Australia and a happy feeling!

So It's been over a month since I posted again! I have some exciting news this month though, like many others, I finished three years of university! I am really happy about it that after all the stress and work I have completed it -  although I am also sad that my time at University, and as a student has finished! It does however mean I have a bit more free time (for now)! I am therefore going on holiday very soon and I cant wait to post photos of my travels on here as I plan to take a decent camera with me this year (not just phone images!).
Todays post however is a short one, I just wanted to post the couple of images I had (which include windswept hair!) of my new shirt which I got from New Look. I have wanted a denim shirt for ages and never bought one - Im not sure why? I have many other denim items like a sleeveless shirt and jacket but I love this shirt it goes with everything! I never usually wear blue because I prefer more earthy tones, but I think blue looks really good with blonde hair so I'm trying to wear more of it.
I also have some new sunglasses which I really really love! They are by Quay Australia which I snapped up from ASOS.com minutes before they sold out (it pays to put items you are considering buying in your basket online!). They are mirrored lenses which I have never had before because I have never really liked them before now. After seeing many magazine photoshoots featuring reflections of palm trees and swimming pools in the reflective lenses however, I just had to have some for on holiday! In the photos they change colour which is really cool too, they have hints of pink yellow and black!
I hope that you like the look of the new items and for all those of you who have also finished university this month, well done and I hope you are happy too!

Paisley MissGuided Flares

This week I bought two pairs of flares, these are part one of two! The first are a denim pair which I will show when they arrive. These ones however are paisley printed 70's styled flares. They are really soft and really, really long! They are regular length yet they are long on me! Therefore if your buying them and are quite small I would advise you'll possibly need heels! They are from MissGuided and are now in sale and I would call them the bargain of the century!

I have paired mine with a white cami top which is pain and simple so that all the attention is on my flares. I wore my round sunglasses to add to the 70's vibe. This look would be great for a festival lounging around in the sun on the grass.

I plan to wear these flares loads in Spain on my trip there this summer. I think that they will look great both for a daytime look and also for night-time. This is especially true as some nights even in the Mediterranean can be cool. Therefore these would work so well as they are so light and 'floaty'.

P.S. the amount of cute butterflies during shooting the pictures was great, so I had to photograph one!

For accessories I wore my pearl tipped necklace I featured on an earlier post. I also wore a really amazing ring I bought, which you can get from lots of markets. Its made from lots of little beads in stems. For shoes I am wearing my boho style camel flats which are hidden underneath the very long flares! Finally I'm wearing my 70's retro styled sunglasses as I already mentioned.
Hope you like these flares and if you want a bargain head over to MissGuided where they are on sale!

Strawberry and Banana, Dairy Free Smoothie

Smoothies are great! I have recently been obsessed with them after I perfected my recipie.
I am going to share with you my way to make smoothies which includes absolutely no dairy. I am not intolerant to dairy products but after realising the negative impact on health that dairy can have I decided to avoid it. One of the main issues with dairy, especially full fat milk is all the fat! This obviously isn't a good thing. Secondly is the hormones present, again especially in milk.  None of this sounds very appealing and I know that when I trialled a month of drinking goats milk my face was breakout mad. This is possibly due to increased hormone levels in my body causing spots from having the milk (although this hasn't been proven scientifically).

You will need a banana, a handful of strawberries, Alpro yoghurt (its dairy free) and Alpro almond milk (its dairy free) and honey or sugar as optional. Also its crucial you have a blender although it doesn't matter what type.

1.) Anyway here it goes! To start with chop up fresh Strawberries or you can use frozen. You could also use a selection of other fresh or frozen berries to your taste.
2.) Then chop up a banana, one should be ample. Put both the strawberries and banana pieces into the blender.

3.) Spoon in four or five spoons of Alpro yogurt. Here I used Plain but I prefer to use Vanilla for a better taste. All of the Alpro range are made without dairy and come straight from almonds or plant based products. It tastes just as good as dairy, looks like dairy and works just as good. Do be aware that it is made out of nuts (the almond version anyway!) and so if you are allergic to nuts it may not be suitable (check the labels!).

4.) Next pour in some Alpro almond milk, mines unsweetened. Use about enough to cover the ingredients in the blender. It is all approximate measures so if you want a large cup, fill it up more!

5.) Lastly put in either a spoonful of honey or a spoonful of sugar if you like yours sweet, or you can just leave it like it is. I personally don't add any as the banana gives it a nice, natural, healthy sweetness.

6.) And that's it, mix it in the blender and its good to go. Simple!
Its such an easy recipe it hardly needed instructions but I wanted to share possibly my favourite drink with you so you can make it too!
You can put it in a fancy cup with a strawberry garnish as seen above or put it into
a sweet vintage dairy bottle and take it with you. Then no-one at all will tell its not dairy!
The only bad part is when your bottles empty!

The Suede/Suedette Skirt

The suede skirt (or suedette skirt) is everywhere at the moment. It is just a great piece to write a post on because of its ability to be worn over practically any season! It looks great for summer but can work just as well in winter. The colour also helps to make it a transitional piece, as it can easily be worn with or without black tights!

I decided to pair mine with a seventies style patterned 'top'. The 'top' I am wearing is actually a dress which was very cheap from Primark. Its just short enough to be covered by my skirt which I got from New Look. Having the dress underneath the skirt actually 'poofs' out the skirt a little more which is quite good for an A-line skirt. Its also such a great way to wear a dress in more than one way.

I have seen a lot of people pair their skirt with black or muted plain colours. I think that it looks great however with a pattern. I don't believe a pattern takes away attention from the skirt and I think it actually adds to the seventies look.

I wore a long beaded necklace tied up with this outfit. Its in matching colours of orange, blue and purple and looks slightly retro to me. I also wore one of my new Seekers of the Sun metallic tattoos from my Glamour Summer Edit Box. It says 'Follow your dreams' that's a nice motto to live by!
My little bag finishes it off, which I just love. Its so ladylike with its little handle and the patent crocodile finish looks really classy as well.

My boots are brown platforms which are so comfy! With being really tall I don't have many occasions where I wear heels so I'm not that used to walking long distances in them! However when I wore this pair walking around in Los Angeles earlier this year, I found them really comfortable and totally ok.

I hope this gives you some inspiration to pair your suede skirt with a pattern as well as plain colours.

Double Denim

So this post is going to concentrate on the little finishing touches that are so important to an outfit but often overlooked. Clothes can take you so far (in creating an awesome outfit) but its the different accessories, jewellery and bags which you add to it that make it!

The outfit therefore shown is a very simple, 'off-duty' double denim look. It is a 'I've just thrown this on' look, kind of 90's-esque as well. Double Denim has been seen everywhere the past year or so therefore its nothing new! As the skirt is a pencil skirt however it does bring a good mix of smart and casual. All the pieces were pretty cheap and off the high street.

The things that make it (I think) are the accessories. The shoes and bag are camel toned and this colour just works so well with Denim.
The shoes by Dune London are slip on which adds to the 'don't care' model off-duty look and are on trend via the sporty luxe trend too! They are great looking with everything I've tried so far (I bought them a week or so ago) and really comfortable too - always good!
The bag is by Fiorelli, its tan so it goes pretty much with anything too which is great. A tan bag really is a good investment piece. Its also massive - you could practically take your kitchen sink with you! My sunglasses are round (lenses!) which are big right now, I actually got these a while back, probably a couple of years ago from River Island. They are leopard printed on the rims, matching the shoes! There are a lot of choice for similar ones on the high street at the moment. I have my usual bracelets (especially turquoise ones for this outfit) and an anklet. I also painted my nails grey which I didn't realise, matches pretty well with this outfit!
